A serious winter expedition through the Spiti circuit. Homestays with bukhari stoves, snow leopard country around Kibber, and the Chandratal road closed behind you. This is the trip people talk about for years.

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Delhi to Shimla

    Overnight drive to Shimla, acclimatising as you climb.

  2. Day 2

    Shimla to Kalpa

    Along the Sutlej through Narkanda and Sangla junction to Kalpa.

  3. Day 3

    Kalpa to Tabo

    Enter Spiti through Nako and Gue, ending at Tabo monastery.

  4. Day 4

    Tabo to Kaza

    Dhankar monastery and the frozen river viewpoint en route to Kaza.

  5. Day 5

    Langza, Hikkim, Komic

    The high villages day, with a postcard sent from Hikkim.

  6. Day 6

    Key and Kibber

    Monastery morning and an afternoon in snow leopard country.

  7. Day 7

    Buffer and rest

    Kept free for weather. Spiti in winter decides the schedule.

  8. Day 8

    Kaza to Manali

    The long descent through Kunzum and Atal Tunnel.

  9. Day 9

    Manali to Delhi

    Overnight return.

How cold does it actually get?

Nights in Kaza drop to around minus 20°C. Homestays are heated with bukhari stoves and we send a detailed layering list before departure.

Do I need prior high-altitude experience?

Not mandatory, but good cardio fitness is. We build in acclimatisation days and carry oxygen support throughout.
